Mr. Joseph Robillard

Mr. Robillard, whom we lovingly call
Robes, started working at Methuen
High School thirty-three years ago right
after graduating from Boston University
with a major in Physical Education. In
those thirty-three years, Robes has
enjoyed countless memories. When
asked about those memories, he simply
said, "There have been so many great
laughs with the kids, and as a coach,
some enjoyable, last second wins."
Robes wants to be remembered as a
good guy who truly cared about his
students. "I love the kids and will truly
miss them." Robes, we speak for the
entire senior class, MHS student body
and staff when we say we will all miss
you just as much. Thanks for thirty-
three wonderful years! Best of luck!

Ms. Diane Dandreta

Ms. Dandreta has worked at Methuen
High for twenty-two years out of her
thirty-eight years of teaching. She
graduated from Salem State with her
Bachelors degree and later received
her Masters degree from Lesley
College. When asked what she will
miss most about Methuen High School,
she replied without hestation, "students
and staff members that I've met and
worked with throughout the years."
Though Ms. Dandreta heads into
retirement, she still hopes to work in the
field of education even if it doesn't
involve a classroom setting. All of us,
staff and students alike, will miss you.
Thank you! We wish you all the best!

The Graduated Curriculum Program (GCP) is designed to
have each and every student achieve optimum academic,
vocational and life success based on his or her strengths,
limitations, and academic abilities.

t >

Administration

"I have very much enjoyed having the Class

of 2008 here at Methuen High School for

the last four years. You have distinguished

yourselves in many ways, from fundraising for

the victims of Hurricane Katrina to the

Tsunami Relief Fund and the Lawrence fire

tragedy to various athletic championships in

addition to academic awards. I know that the

members of this class will go out into the

world after graduation and become

successful in life. Best of luck in your future

endeavors!"

Yearbook

Advisor: Ms. Hudson

The Methuen High School Yearbook is open

to students in all grades. Editors and staff

members are responsible for the design,

creation, marketing and sales of the Yearbook.

Planning begins in the spring, and editors

attend a summer training workshop to design

the cover and learn the many aspects of

creating the book. The entire yearbook is

created online, and all grades are covered. It

is distributed to Seniors at the Senior Breakfast

in May, and the rest of the school the next

day. Many successful people have served as

Yearbook editors over the years, including Mr.

Nick, who served as Editor-in-Chief of the

Blue and White

The Blue and White enjoyed a fun and eventful year, bringing

together any and all students who were interested in writing

about current events around the Methuen High. Samantha

Palazzo, our Editor-in-Chief for two years, was an integral part

of the success of the Blue and White. During the 2007-2008

school year, Sam produced and edited eight issues for the

students and staff of Methuen High to enjoy. Giuliano Pizzo,

Alexa LeClerc, Katie Cairnie, Caroline Grassi, and Stephen

Liddell were all major contributors to our school newspaper,

reporting on many events this year including our sporting

accomplishments, the devastating fires in Lawrence, and on the

upcoming Presidential Election. This staff, along with Sam

Palazzo worked together to create a solid foundation for which

the Blue and White to build upon for the future. A special

thanks to the Blue and White staff and its loyal readers!

Multicultural Club

The Methuen High School Multicultural Club Voices of the

Culture is a grassroots movement that was founded by a group

of Senior Students (Class of 2007) that identified a need to

develop different support and guidance services for students

that are new to the country, come from a different culture or are

new to the Methuen High School. This group encourages and

promotes individual self-awareness and growth by learning

more about their own culture and heritage, while learning to

embrace other cultures other than their own. The group hopes to

improve the student/staff relations by having more multicultural

awareness and celebrating the diversity that is represented at

this school. The goal of this group is to provide students with the

means and support to share information, build and engage in

collaborative initiatives focused on the positive growth of the

Methuen High School culture and spirit.

Advisor: Ms. Vanegas

Senior Class Play

Set in 1 977, the 2008 Senior Class play was entitled Captain

endeavor by Agnes Griddle (Megan MacPherson), Bonnie
(Erin Kennedy) and Conroy (Kristen Dedrick). These fearless do-
gooders fought off the wicked Bradford (Ryan LeBlanc), Ms
Clinger (Stephanie Allen), Mr. Bip (Travis Maguire), Bruno
(Nathan Piliponis), Olga (Naomi Martinez) and Ratso Finkle
(David Alaimo). Waldo's love interest was Penelope Mayberry,
played convincingly by Cynthia Om. Other students and
teachers at the school were portrayed by Abby (Elizabeth
Maccarone), Regina (Mary Kovacs),. Yvonne (Elizabeth Avila),
Veronica Van Dazzle (Brittany Forkus), Mrs. Mayberry (Pamela
Costa), Mrs. Potter (Mary Kate Kelley), Coach McGillicutty
(Christian Murphy) and

Musical

The 2008 MHS musical was the Tony award-winning rock musical,

Pippin. The show, with words and music by Stephen Schwartz,

features great musical numbers such as Magic to Do, Love Song,

With You and the ever popular Corner of the Sky.

Choreographers, Kacey Oreal and Kallie Nordengren truly

inspired the actors to an exceptional level of performance. The cast

included students from every grade level.

Ryan LeBlanc and Dana Shaffer shared the role of The Leading

Player, the character who pulled the strings leading Pippin on his

search for fulfillment. Sean Clancy brought a certain charm to the

role of the intimidating Charles the King. His devious wife,

Fastrada, was stylishly portrayed by Erin Wholley, and his son,

Lewis, the brave but dull-witted soldier, was hilariously bought to

life by Christian Murphy. Mary Kate Kelley was inspiring in her

portrayal of the very wise Berthe, Pippins grandmother.

Additionally, Logan Stansbury and Tyler Stansbury, sons of Lt. Col.

& Mrs. Bernie Stansbury of North Reading played the role of

young Theo. He was the son of Catherine, Pippins love interest,

who was masterfully played by Brianna Heffernan. Lastly, Javier

Grullon WAS Pippin. His musical ability was perfectly suited to

enhance the story of Pippin and his pursuit of his very own Corner

of the Sky. Rounding out this tremendously talented cast was

Stephanie Allen, Catherine Cassidy, Amanda Crane, Nina

Dadducci, Kristen Dedrick, Brittany Forkus, Eric Francisco, Katie

Horan, Christina Itarelli, Shannon LoConte, Brooke Lavoie,

Nicholas Licciardi, Jessica Lucey, Abbi Massey, Andrea Minahan,

Breanah OHandley, Cynthia Om, and Alex Parsons.

The stage managers, Sam Iwen and Mary Kate Kelley, did their

part to ensure a good production. The orchestra led by conductor,

Thomas Walters, was comprised of members of Methuen High

Ranger Band and faculty.

Directed by Laurel A McMahon, Pippin was performed on March

7, 2008 and March 8, 2008 at 7:00 PM.

he goal of JROTC is to motivate young people to become better citizens. Through
lis program, cadets learn discipline, leadership skills, and most importantly, respect
x themselves and others. Basic Civil commands are mastered as well as basic
lilitary history. The Military Ball, pictured here, is JROTC's biggest event of the year,
lilitary Ball Coordinator, Ashley Brightman as well as fellow cadets planned and
xecuted this long anticipated event this past March. The Corps of Cadets is growing
very year, as more students become interested in this vigorous program.
